14th ANNUAL FAMILY FESTIVAL AUGUST 16-17-18

There are (or will soon be) packets of tickets for every parishioner at the front entrance. Each packet contains 2-Piggy Dinner tickets, BINGO ticket, and $5 worth of 50/50 tickets. Each packet is $30. Please help us save postage by taking family, friends, and neighbors’ tickets.

50/50 Drawings are underway with tickets available before all weekend masses. Returns can be placed in the weekend collection or mailed to the rectory.

DONATIONS FOR FAMILY FESTIVAL

We are in need of cases of soda (cans), bottled water, and napkins. Please drop off all donations at the Parish. If you are a baker and would like to donate to our bake sale, please call Barbara Long at 570-489-8295.

If you would like to donate a gift basket or gift certificate for our raffle, please call Karen Doyle at 570-489-2552.

IMPORTANT DATES TO PREPARE FOR 14TH ANNUAL FAMILY FESTIVAL

Wednesday June 26th at 5:30pm, we will package the tickets at the Church Hall.

Wednesday July 11th at 6:30pm, there will be a festival meeting at the Church Hall.

Wednesday August 14th at 1pm, we will set-up the grounds for the festival.

LET’S PLAY WIFFLE BALL

Blessed Sacrament invites all children ages 16 and under to this event which will be held Saturday August 10th at 10am. Sign-Up sheets are located at Blessed Sacrament’s church entrance. Please make sure you print your name, phone number, and most importantly your t-shirt size.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE PART OF BLESSED SACRAMENT PARISH PHOTO HISTORY?

On Saturday, August 10 after the 5:30 PM Mass, and on Sunday, August 11, after the 9:30 AM Mass, a group photo will be taken of all to be included in the upcoming Photo Book celebrating 125 years of Catholicism in the town of Throop (1895-2020). The goal is to have the book available for purchase this upcoming holiday season (November 2019). More details on the group photo to come. All are invited! Bring the family, bring yourself, see you there. Orders will be taken in September for Thanksgiving delivery.

BLESSED SACRAMENT HOLY NAME SOCIETY

The society will not meet during the summer months. The next meeting is scheduled for Sunday, September 8 at 6:00 PM. New members are welcome.

BLESSED SACRAMENT PARISH MEMBERS

with the Altar & Rosary society and Holy Name will participate in the upcoming Throop 125th anniversary it’s Quasquicentennial on June 29 & 30. We will have a Food Stand for the two day event and all monies made minus the cost of supplies, will go directly to the Parish.

We are in need of volunteers, Friday to set-up, Saturday and Sunday to work the stand 3 to 8 PM, and Monday for clean-up. Sign-up sheets are at the entrances of the church. We will have a meeting to discuss what we will be selling. All are welcome.

Interested in being part of the extensive history of the Catholic Church in Throop? Parishioner & Videographer Joseph Butash is attempting to document in picture, words and video, the formation of the four former parishes and the establishment of Blessed Sacrament Parish. Interviews have been recorded, if you would like to be interviewed contact Joseph Butash at 570-489-4515.

PHOTO BOOK celebrating 125 years of Roman Catholics in Throop

is being compiled. Histories of the four former parishes and the formation of Blessesd Sacrament Parish will be included. Photos from St. Bridget’s Parish are still needed. Contact Joseph Butash if you can supply photos. The hope is to have this book available by Christmas.

BATON TWIRLING LESSONS

BLESSED SACRAMENT STITCHERS

The Blessed Sacrament Stitchers meet the second Friday of each month at 10:00 A.M. in Blessed Sacrament Parish rectory. In order to create and deliver soft and cuddly booties and hats for the newly baptized infants of Blessed Sacrament and Holy Cross Parishes the stitchers are seeking donations of the following items:

  • White soft baby knitting yarn
  • Small paper gift bags in pink, blue or white (approximately 5x7)
  • Pink and blue tissue paper and ribbon

Donations are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at the Parish rectory. New members are always welcome!

HOLY NAME SOCIETY SEARCHING FOR NEW MEMBERS

Why not consider joining the Holy Name Society of Blessed Sacrament Parish? Meetings are held only once a month. Dues are minimal. Help our parish community grow in a spiritual and social way that has a rich tradition in the history of the Catholic Parishes in the community of Throop. The Holy Name needs new members, junior members are most welcome. If you are a member and have not paid your dues for 2019, please contact Adam Nosak.

  The Officers of Blessed Sacrament Parish Holy Name Society for 2015 are President Adam Nosak, 1st Vice-President-Dominck Rocco, Jr.,  2nd Vice-President-Michael Rocco, Recording Secretary-Robert Fuhr, Financial Secretary-Mark Wallo, Treasurer-Jim Liesiefsky, and Sergeant-at-Arms- Vincent Lorent. New members and Junior members are invited to join us at our meetings. The Holy Name meets the second Sunday of the month at 7PM in Blessed Sacrament Parish Hall.
