FORTNIGHT FOR FREEDOM

The Catholic Bishops of the United States recently outlined several concerns over the threat to religious freedom in their statement: “Our first, Most Cherished Liberty.” The Bishops of the United States have called all the faithful to the third annual celebration of the Fortnight for Freedom: June 21st – July 4th, 2014. The theme of this year’s Fortnight will focus on the freedom to serve the poor and vulnerable in accord with human dignity and the Church’s teaching.

Bishop Bambera will celebrate a special Mass to acknowledge the Fortnight for Freedom and to recognize the generous and dedicated service offered by so many people in the Diocese on behalf of the poor and most vulnerable. Please invite your whole parish for this Mass, and especially encourage those from your parish who are most active in these types of ministries. The Mass will be Sunday, June 29th, 12:15pm at the Cathedral of St. Peter.
